The Tank Museum
Danville, VA
October 30, 2020

The American Armoured Foundation Tank Museum has the most extensive collection of International Tank and Cavalry artifacts in the world!  This exceptional collection, predominantly of the histories of World Wars 1 and 2, was largely collected by William Gasser to educate present and future generations to the sacrifices made and the technologies gained during war. There are more than 120 tanks and artillery pieces, 150 machine guns, rocket launchers and more.  The Museum not only shows the “hardware” of war, but also has exhibits of military uniforms (adult as well as children’s) and helmets, photography, “Hollywood Goes to War,” the use of carrier pigeons and “Elvis–His Military Years” to name just a few of the more than 30 exhibits and galleries.

Please join NCHE in this extraordinary opportunity to see first hand the equipment and historical pieces of 20th century warfare.  The museum is housed in a 330,000 square foot building (the size of three super Wal-marts), so social distancing should not be an issue. Check-in will be between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. for this self-guided tour.  An app will be provided for you to download to guide your exploration and understanding of what you will see.  The average visit time is 2-4 hours; in/out privileges will be permitted if you wish to leave and then return for a lunch break.

Tickets are $8.25 per person 5 and older (children 4 and younger are admitted free.)  Tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.  Tickets are transferable to others for the same day but are non-refundable.
