Sylvan Heights Bird Park
Scotland Neck, NC
September 24, 2020

Sylvan Heights Bird Park is designed to give visitors an unforgettable up-close experience with over 2,000 waterfowl, parrots, toucans, flamingos, and other exotic birds from around the world.  Situated on 18 acres, there’s plenty of space for social distancing as you introduce your children to birds from South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The aviaries are surrounded by tranquil gardens and lush natural areas, which enhance the beauty of the birds on exhibit and immerse visitors in native North Carolina wildlife habitat.

Join NCHE and other homeschool families for this day of learning in the fresh air.  Check-in will be between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.  You will be welcome to stay as long as you wish although most guests visit for about two-three hours.  The newly opened Duck Landing Cafe offers lunch items for sale, but you are also welcome to bring your own cooler and picnic on the grounds.  On-site, you may also purchase Passports (grades 3 and up), Scavenger Hunts (grades 2 and under), and special foods for different types of birds.

Tickets are $7.50 per child (2 and under are free); adults are $12.95.  Tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 or while supply lasts. NOTE:  If you have a Sylvan Heights or NC Zoo membership, your admission is free; if you have an NC Aquarium membership, your admission is half price.  If you fall in those categories, please contact NCHE Activities Director Evelyn Bickley directly to be added to the list at evelyn.bickley@nche.com . Tickets are transferable to others for the same day but are non-refundable.
