We are a private homeschool group. We serve all homeschool aged children & their families in the Cherokee County, NC area. This group is for connecting with secular homeschoolers in Rutherford and Polk counties of western NC. We are primarily a social group that offers support and community for homeschooling families.

Biltmore Homeschool Ministry (Buncombe County and adjacent counties)
A fun group of over 200 families thrives at Biltmore Church.  We are thankful many families travel from many towns and counties to be a part of our group. Deep Young Academy (Waynesville/Clyde/Haywood County)

Serving families in WNC since 2008, Deep Young Academy offers engaging and inspiring Christ-centered enrichment classes in which home school students can grow deeper intellectually, spiritually, and personally. We also provide a setting in which lasting friendships develop. We have STEM and Latin focus across the grade levels providing learning opportunities for students Pre-K to 12th grade. We understand that different phases of the homeschooling journey can be challenging! We do not have all the answers individually, but collectively, with God’s guidance, we are creating a community of support and encouragement. Deep Young always welcomes new families. Franklin Melting Pot (Macon County)
The Franklin Homeschool Melting Pot is a secular activities group in Franklin, NC (Macon County). We are an open and accepting group wanting to offer the local homeschool community a fun, social outlet to learn. Our activities are geared toward 5th to 12th graders. We are open to new members joining at any time.  There is no fee to join, however, some events (such as field trips, science classes, pool dates, etc.) may require a small fee to participate.  The group operates primarily September through May, however if activities come up during the summer months that the group would like to do together (such as a pool date or movie) or other family events, the information will be sent out.  At the beginning of the month, I put out a calendar of activities. We do not meet on any one particular day.  If you do not see activities that interest your family, I am very eager and open to suggestions and encourage you to be apart of the activities planning. Front Porch Classroom (Clay County)
Front Porch Classroom is a free, home school support group for students of all ages, as well as the people who teach them.
Meetings are open to everyone who cares about homeschooling- whether new to the adventure or someone with years of expertise.
We believe each person has a unique perspective and we try to share information, resources, field trips, curriculum, tips, and anything we think will help each other. Activities at regular meetings have included educational speakers, visits from Veterans, book sharing, arts and crafts and small field trips around the county. A couple of fun, pot-luck picnics are usually held each year, too, but no one is ever required to participate in any event or activity.
This group is open to anyone in Clay County as well as the surrounding counties of western North Carolina and north Georgia. Regular meetings are held from 1 to 3 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at Moss Memorial Library in Hayesville.

YMCHE (Young Macon County Home Educators)

Jerri Neal has served as regional liaison for Region 1 since 2011. She and her husband Freddie have been married since 1990 and are parents of 8 children and grandparents of 3. Freddie and Jerri made the decision to homeschool when their firstborn was still in diapers, and they attended their first NCHE Conference when he was only 3. Jerri enjoys serving homeschoolers in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
