Classical Conversations–Fayetteville
Classical Conversations partners with homeschooling parents who want a classical Christian education for their children.  Our weekly programs for students in K4-12th grade are academically demanding and are for families interested in pursuing a challenging classical curriculum.

The Foundations program is for elementary-aged children and their parents.  One day a week for 24
weeks, families meet at a Foundations community where the students are placed in groups of 8 by age/grade and taught to learn classically by a trained tutor. Students participate in art projects,
science experiments, oral presentations, and follow a rigorous memorization program.

The Challenge program is for middle and high school students.  For 30 weeks, they study six challenging subjects at home. Within our Challenge communities, they practice dialectic and rhetorical skills in a weekly 6-hour program along with tutoring in math, foreign language, complete science labs, exposition and composition, and more.

Our Perfectly Imperfect Homeschool
We began our adventure in August 2013, and it has been an interesting learning process. I am by no means a super scheduler, planner, have all my lessons completed BEFORE school starts, kind of gal. I wanted to start a group that maybe other homeschoolers could find, and know that it’s ok if you’re a little more of a seat-of-the-pants schooler. It all evens out, and at the end of the year, you will see that yes, your kids did actually learn something. So stop striving for everyone else’s “perfect” homeschool, and just find yours. And hopefully, we can support each other and share ideas and tips, and vent if we need to. Because we ALL understand here. And bring your coffee. You’re gonna need it.

Amy Davis

Amy Davis is a native of Fayetteville. Growing up, she enjoyed reading and listening to music. She was a student of violin for 10 years and played in Cumberland County’s Youth Orchestra. She graduated from UNC-P with a degree in Mass Communications and a concentration in Public Relations.
Having been raised by parents who both thoroughly enjoyed their careers, Amy had never considered being a stay-at-home mom. It goes without saying that she had absolutely never considered being a homeschooling stay-at-home mom!
However, we all know what they say about the best-laid plans!
Amy is married to her best friend. Christian Davis works in sales with a local independent coffee company. They have homeschooled all four of their children in some capacity. He often jokes that they homeschool in order to legitimize their addiction to books! Indeed, building an extensive home library has been one of their great joys and hobbies.
Matthew is their oldest at 27, and also has a diagnosis of autism and cognitive impairment. Being his mother has required Amy to become an advocate. Once he was diagnosed, she threw herself into researching all that she could find about how best to teach him. She has been training others to work with him using the principles of applied behavior analysis for almost 25 years now.
Hannah began homeschooling after her sixth-grade year. She is now 25 and a graduate of Campbell University with a degree in Homeland Security. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in the same subject. She currently resides in Colorado and loves hiking and being outdoors.          Cai, 20, has been homeschooling since third grade. Now a junior at UNC-CH, he is pursuing degrees in both mathematics and music. He is a cellist and performs with the UNC Symphony Orchestra.
Mackenzie, at 16, is the baby of the family and set to graduate in 2023. She has been dancing classical ballet since she was 4. She recently began taking piano lessons and also loves reading and surfing.
With an end to homeschooling coming soon, Amy has enjoyed taking on positions that allow her to help newer homeschoolers find their way. She has been serving on the board of her local homeschool group for three years now. She will roll off of that board just in time to enjoy her daughter’s senior year of high school! The opportunity to serve as NCHE’s District 8 Region seemed like another unique opportunity to meet and serve others outside of her local group. Whether it’s answering general homeschooling questions, or helping a special needs parent navigate the system, Amy is excited for this opportunity to be a resource to others.
