Founded in 1984, North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) is a private, volunteer organization active at the state level, serving homeschoolers in North Carolina and beyond.
In order to better serve, NCHE divides the state into twelve regions. Each region has an assigned number and Regional Director.
Homeschooling is the view that education is best when teaching and learning are integrated into the relationships and activities of the family.
The oldest form of education, homeschooling was legally recognized in NC in 1988.
Article 39 of chapter 115C of the General Statutes defines a Homeschool in NC. The Division of Non-Public Instruction (DNPE) administers the NC law governing homeschooling practice.

The GREENHOUSE publish a special issue in May that celebrates our high school graduates and alums. To be included, you will need to submit your graduate’s recognition paragraph/bio and photo (photo optional). You also have the opportunity to purchase a ½ or full page ad in the issue and to order extra copies of this issue for your family and friends.
The Basic GREENHOUSE recognition includes a paragraph consisting of 70-100 words and a photograph (head shot) of the graduate.
The recognition paragraph/bio must start with the graduate’s name, and it is recommended that your first sentence follow a form similar to: Graduate’s name, son/daughter of Parent(s) Name(s) of City, graduates after homeschooling for # years.
The photo must be a head shot of the graduate. Photo size requirement—The head shot must be a minimum of 300 dpi, when sized to 1 in. x 1.2 in. If the file is a jpg or jpeg it should be a minimum of 100 kb, and if it’s an uncompressed tif or tiff file, it should be a minimum of 1.3 mb. You do not need to crop to this size; we will do that for you. If the photo needs cropping, which most will, send the highest possible resolution you can. When in doubt, send the original photo. If the photo copyrighted, a permission letter from the photographer must be included with the photo. A paper copy of the photo may be submitted via U.S. mail, or a digital image may be submitted online or via email. If emailed, you must include the graduate’s name in the subject line of the email.
Submit online, or email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by mail a hard copy with graduate form to the NCHE office.
The GREENHOUSE editor maintains the right to edit submissions.
We only allow updates to future plans, and they may be submitted to email@example.com by March 30, 2013
To offer an opportunity to celebrate your graduate’s accomplishments in a bigger way, we are selling ½ page and full page collages to our graduate families or support groups at a much reduced price from our normal rates. You can choose to design your own collage and submit as a PDF/JPG/TIF, or we can design it for you.
